Another funky outing from James Brown's legendary alto saxophonist, Mo' Roots continues with the same tight grooves and canny cover selection of Roots Revisited. Parker is ably backed by Pee Wee Ellis on tenor sax, trombonist Fred Wesley, Larry Goldings and Rodney Jones on Hammond organ and guitar, respectively, and the powerful drumming of Bill Stewart. Tunes include Ray Charles's "Hallelujah, I Love Her So," Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On," Horace Silver's "Sister Sadie," and a hard-swinging spiritual, "Down by the Riverside." ~ Roundup Newsletter
